About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Noor Lingo (FZC), a company in the United Arab Emirates that runs Noorlingo ("we", "us"). They cover the Noorlingo apps on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets and Android TV, the web app at app.noorlingokids.com, and the website at noorlingokids.com.
By creating an account, or by using Noorlingo, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Noorlingo.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we look after it. It forms part of these terms.
Who can create an account
A family account is for a parent or guardian aged 18 or over. You create the account, add a profile for each child, and stay responsible for how your children use Noorlingo.
Children use Noorlingo through a parent’s account, or through their school’s class. A child should not create a family account.
Your account
When you create and use an account, you agree to:
- give us accurate information, including an email address you can read
- keep your password to yourself, and not share it with your children
- tell us straight away if you think someone else is using your account
- take responsibility for what happens in your account
Using Noorlingo through a school
A school sets up classes through Noorlingo for Schools and gives children a class code to join. The school decides which children join, and is responsible for having the authority, and any consent the law requires, to enrol them.
A child who joins a class needs no email address or password. Their teacher can see their progress, as the Privacy Policy describes. A school’s use of Noorlingo may also be covered by a separate agreement between the school and us.
Price
Noorlingo is currently free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or advertisements.
If we ever offer paid features, we will explain them clearly first, and you will never be charged for anything you have not agreed to.
What you may do
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use Noorlingo and its content for your family’s learning, or for your class’s learning if you use it through a school. You may not sell or pass on this permission, and it ends if your account is closed.
What you may not do
Please do not:
- copy, sell, share or publish Noorlingo’s stories, pictures, recordings or games outside the app
- take apart, copy or modify the apps, except where the law allows it
- try to get into another person’s account, or into a class you have not been invited to
- interfere with Noorlingo, its security or the people who use it
- use bots or automated tools to use, copy or collect anything from Noorlingo
- write or send anything unlawful, harmful or offensive, in an activity or in a message to us
Our content
The stories, illustrations, characters (including Noor and the Noorlingo family), narration, games, the Noorlingo name and logo, and the software itself belong to Noor Lingo (FZC) or to the people who license them to us, and are protected by intellectual property laws. Apart from the permission above, these terms give you no rights in them.
What children write
Some activities ask a child to write or say an answer. That answer stays theirs. You allow us to keep it and use it only to run Noorlingo: to save the child’s progress, and to show them their work. We never publish it. The Privacy Policy explains how it is kept and deleted.
A learning aid
Noorlingo is designed to support children’s English reading. It is not a replacement for school, a teacher, or a professional assessment. Badges, points and levels are there to encourage, not to grade.
Speech recognition helps a child practise reading aloud, but it may not always understand every voice or accent.
Keeping Noorlingo running
We work to keep Noorlingo available and working well, but it may sometimes be interrupted, for example for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Some features need an internet connection.
We may add, change or retire lessons and features as Noorlingo develops. If a change takes away something important, we will tell you before it happens.
The website
When you send us a message or sign up for parent tips on noorlingokids.com, we use your details only to reply to you or to send you the tips you asked for. To stop the tips, reply to any of them and ask.
The website may link to other sites, such as the App Store and Google Play. We are not responsible for their content or their terms.
App stores
If you downloaded Noorlingo from the App Store or Google Play, that store’s terms also apply to the download. These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google: we alone are responsible for Noorlingo, its content, and its support and maintenance.
Apple and Google have no duty to provide support for Noorlingo, and are not responsible for handling any claim relating to it, including product claims, claims that it breaks a law, or claims that it infringes someone’s intellectual property. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as a third party. If Noorlingo fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and to the extent the law allows, Apple will have no other warranty obligation for it.
You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a United States government embargo, and are not on a United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Closing your account
You can close a child’s profile, or your whole account, at any time from the Parents area of the app. Closing can be undone by signing in again. To have your account and your children’s information permanently deleted, email [email protected], as the Privacy Policy explains.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or to protect children, other users or Noorlingo. Where it is appropriate and safe to, we will tell you why.
Our responsibility to you
We provide Noorlingo with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, Noorlingo is provided “as is”, and we do not promise that it will always be available or free from errors.
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to AED 100, or the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim if that is more.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be limited, or our responsibility for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Noorlingo, the law or our practices change. The current version and the date it took effect are always shown with them.
If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you do not agree to the new terms, you can close your account. If you keep using Noorlingo after the change, you agree to them.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. This does not take away any protection you have under the laws of the country where you live.
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
